GUIs

I appreciate all the nice apps and software out there that people are building in order to make my life simpler and more efficient. I like the recommendations, the suggestions. I like Google's philosophy of anticipating my next move. But there must be more transparency, or else I begin to lose the power of the vastness of the internet. I want Why? buttons everywhere so that I can click them and see instantly the breadth of field from which suggestions for me have been culled. And the indicators by which they have been selected. I want more citations. Citations to keep people honest and to keep me questioning. Because without this option to ask why, I cede freedoms; I am in doubt, uncertain, frustrated.
